    Recording and AI notes, explained

What it means when your therapist asks to record a session, what the AI does, and your choices.

    Why your therapist may ask

Some therapists record sessions so that they can listen fully instead of taking notes, and so that their notes are accurate. Software then writes a draft of the session note, which your therapist reads, corrects and signs.

    Only with your consent

A session is recorded only if you agree. You can say no, ask for the recording to stop at any moment, or change your mind later, and none of this affects your care.

    Where it happens

With Olive Grove, the recording, the transcript and the draft note are made on your therapist’s own computer, by AI that runs there. They are not sent to an AI company. Your therapist decides how long recordings are kept and can delete them.

    • The AI drafts; your therapist decides what goes in your record.
    • You can ask what is kept, for how long, and to see your record.

    Questions to ask

It is always fine to ask your therapist:

    • Will this session be recorded, and why?
    • Who can see the recording and the notes?
    • How long are they kept, and how are they deleted?
